Murphys Events Calendar for the Week of August 8th, 2016

What a great week to visit Calaveras County and the surrounding foothills! We’ve got so much fun stuff going on, you’re just going to have to pick your favorites, because there’s no way anyone could do it all in just one week!

Murphys Park

Monday night in Murphys, starting at 5:15 and wrapping up around 7:15 at the gazebo in Murphys Community Park, enjoy Music in the Park as you watch the Calaveras Jazz Band or the Community Band perform for your listening pleasure.

Tuesday from 4:30 through 8 pm, plan an evening of good food, amazing wines, and heart-lightening entertainment with Tuesdays at Alchemy, where you will be able to enjoy a featured wine and meal along with live music on the patio starting at 5:30. I highly recommend calling 209 728 0700 for reservations.

Nicholas Lefler

On Wednesday, you have your choice of “Locals Night” at Milliaire Winery or “Live Music at Rob’s Place” at, you guessed it, Rob’s Place. Locals Night started back on June 8th, but it continues on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month through September! They have live music from local talent and some weeks even feature cuisine from local vendors, including Old Skool Pies.  Select bottles of wine will be half price, and of course wine will also be available by the glass! For more information on this event, call them at (209) 728-1658 or email your questions to tastingroom@milliairewinery.com.  Otherwise, you might opt to listen to your live musical entertainment in a different venue. If that’s the case, you might want to check out Rob’s Place between 6 and 8pm, when Nicholas Lefler performs with his guitar for your listening pleasure.

On Thursdays, one of Murphys newer shops, His and Hers, which features fine cigars, antiques and vintage army surplus supplies, has a special sale just for locals! Just mention that you live nearby when making your purchase, and received 10% off of the total on Locals Day! For your musical entertainment pleasure, stop by El Jardin Restaurant and listen to the live acoustic music being performed every Thursday from 6 to 8pm on the patio.

And Friday… Well, my best suggestion of what to do in Murphys on a Friday is to start at one end of Main Street and work your way down to the other and back again. Take a detour at the Murphys Hotel down Algiers St. to the park, dip your feet in the nice cool water of the creek, enjoy the sound of little ones playing over on the playground equipment and swings, and breathe in some clean mountain air. On your way back to the other end of town, stop in to the shops with goodies that catch your eye and chat for a while with the owners. Maybe buy something cool to wear or decorate your home. Have a bite to eat. Listen to some live music – several downtown restaurants provide it for their guest’s enjoyment. You just can’t go wrong!
